Day 1

Meet up on arrival and travel to Anuradhapura (approx 4hrs) . Spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 2

After breakfast explore the ruins of the ancient city – Anuradapura being the first capitol of the island was also the footsteps where Buddhism was introduced to the island and holds the remnants of a city that dates back to the 3rd century B.C.Visit some of the most important monument’s sacred to all Buddhist – large stupa’s, ancients statues, remnants of large monasteries. Thereafter travel to Sigiriya and later during the day visit the Sigiriya rock – Considered the 8 wonder in the world is a masterpiece of creation

Day 3

Travel to Polonnaruwa in the morning(approx 1.5hr) – Arrive at the second capitol, and explore the ancient city which dates back to the11th century A.D. Witness the palace ruins, granite rock Buddha, reservoirs. After lunch travel back to Sigiriya, en route visit the Minneriya national park and enjoy a jeep safari to witness large herds of Elephant as well as many species of birds

Day 3

After breakfast travel to Kandy (approxx 2.5hrs), en route visit the Dambulla rock cave temple where five temples have been carved out of one rock and is said to be the largest art gallery found in the ancient world. Arrive in Kandy the cultural heart of the island. Late afternoon enjoy a city tour of Kandy and visit the Temple of Tooth – Most sacred temple found in the island where the tooth relic of the Buddha is preserved. Witness the devotees with offering of flower’s and participate in religious observances.

Day 5

Board the morning upcountry train and enjoy a scenic train ride to Hatton, be picked up from Hatton station and transfer to your hotel nearby at Dikoya or Norwood. Spend the rest of the day at leisure or indulge in activities offered by the hotel

Day 6

Day 7

Travel back to the air port (4hrs)for your departure flight back or to your selected hotel in Colombo / Negombo. Site seeing along the way.
